Each day she awakes
To treasures galore.
In silence she waits
With patience and awe.
She knows that it’s Spring
When she hears the first humming
Of those precious wings
That keep her heart drumming.
She dances with wisdom
Of lightning and thunder.
Dark clouds and stars tumble
With frightening wonder.
But now the sun’s blinding
And warming the day.
Like a blanket of diamonds
Blinking, Sparkling, Shining
On her Pleasant Bay.
All quiet and still
She knows the clock’s running
The bay is a thrill,
Did she hear the wings humming?
It’s time for goodbye
They know winter’s coming.
She tries not to cry
Yet her heart keeps on drumming.
