Genes don’t make sisters.
I know this for sure.
I married her brother
And may have gotten more.
We share a last name
And also initials.
She always feels my pain
Though it’s still not official.
A better sister there hardly could be.
So paint me a heart
With the words Love, C.P.

Spirit Wind

My forest breathes with a rhythm that soothes me.
Lush boughs rising as Spirit Wind Moves me.
Ocean breath waves of rolling green.
My forest tells secrets, about to be seen.
Hide and Seek, giggling, whispering trees,
“Doesn’t she know this is all that she needs?”
My forest breathes with a rhythm that soothes me
Lush boughs rising as Spirit Wind moves me.
The Vacant Room

In this empty nest
I stare at the Monet.
It’s where I write the best,
Or simply drift away.
In this vacant room
When no one knows I’m there,
It feels like a cocoon,
Where words float in the air.
In this peaceful place
Atop the winding stair,
Abandoning the pace,
And every earthly care.
