We ate and drank
And with friends we sang.

Draped in a shawl
Strolling by the sea.
That October in Spain
Felt like Summer to me.

I heard you
Singing
Under the snow,
Those joyful songs
You used to know.

I saw you
Dressed
In delicate lace,
No longer in
The painful place.

I smelled you
Near
So warm and close,
A soothing scent
Like sugar toast.

I touched you
Once
But long before,
You slipped away
Forever more.

Jungle Jammin’

Boystrous birds beckoning
As rain patterns a beat.
With crescendos and rests
A symphony complete.
And a sound so deafening

Poised from their nest.

More like a rock concert where
My porch is the best.
With a front and center seat,
In my suburban jungle
Of Kaw, Chirp and Tweet.
