Wading Place Path is an old Indian footpath on Cape Cod. It runs between Chatham and Orleans close to what is now known as Route 28. This was an acient single file trail that followed along Ryder’s Cove. The grave of the famous Indian Squanto is believed to be in this area. Across the path is the home of William and Anne Nickerson, the first Chatham settlers. Wading Place path continues over the hill and down to the shore of Pleasant Bay. Warren Sears Nickerson was my husband’s Grandfather. He wrote a wonderful book about this area of the Cape called The Bay As I See It. We spend much of our free time in this historical part of Massachusettes. I’ll be researching Wading Place Path, so look for furthur updates. Meanwhile enjoy the site!
